Educación e Igualdad – la cuestión de la educación intercultural y los pueblos indígenas

Autor: Raúl Díaz, María Laura Diez and Sofía Thisted

Educación e Igualdad – la cuestión de la educación intercultural y los pueblos indígenas (Education and Inequality – the issue of intercultural education and indigenous peoples) by Raúl Díaz, María Laura Diez and Sofía Thisted draws on other reports and a first round of consultations among indigenous organizations undertaken by CLADE in 2008. The study reviews the assimilationist initiatives that have endeavored, over the past decades, to work on the education of the peoples of indigenous origin. According to the authors, it is necessary to build intercultural spaces in which cosmovisions can interact “in equal conditions, making it possible to face and debate on knowledge and identity principles and contents”. Intercultural education should not be aimed at those groups deemed to be minorities only, but at all.
