Political Agenda
The Campaign’s Political Agenda for the 2010-2014 period was built by consensus and approved during the 6th Assembly:
1) Affirming education as a lifelong human right
We advocate:
- To overcome all forms of discrimination in education, looking out so that this right can be universalised;
- For free public education;
- To make sure that the less benefited age groups have their rights accomplished:
• Early childhood;
• Young people and adults;
- To make sure the States will perform their obligation to provide education in full respect of human rights, dignity and diversity;
- So that public financing will account for the accomplishment of the human right to education in its five dimensions: availability, accessibility, acceptability adaptability, accountability;
- By getting largely involved in the subjects regarding Higher Education and its connections with basic education.
2) Strengthening active and participatory democracy in Latin-America and the Caribbean
We advocate:
- To open spaces of public consultation and deliberation, with special regards to the education community, in order to strengthen civil society participation in decision-making related to the legal and political landmarks for education;
- To foster participation in the existing advocacy spaces at the national, regional and international levels;
- To encourage the debate, as well as the articulated and collective learning, in view of the human rights achievement;
